Chapter 9

Davita

The party didn’t end until about eleven. I helped Mrs. Jones put up the food and clean the kitchen. Dawson and Candice cleaned up the house while Mr. Jones and Ava slept in the family room. After Candice and Ava left, and his mom and dad went to bed, Dawson and I were left in the living room alone chilling. “So AK is your brother-in-law?”

“Yep.”

“What does he do cuz I’m tryna figure out how Davon works for him.”

“He has his own business. What’d he mean about giving you a ride?”

“The other night when I got jumped, he gave me a ride home while Davon drove my car home.”

“Oh okay.” He stared off into space like he was deep in thought or mad about something.

“It was so nice meeting your parents. This is a niiccceee house.”

“Yeah,” he yawned, “I’m finna leave though. You headed back home?” He’s throwing me off. He knows I've been staying with him. What did he mean heading home?

“Well, I wanted to spend more time with you tonight, if that’s okay with you.” I put my arms around his neck.

“Yeah, well I’m headed home,” he said all rude. All of a sudden he has an attitude, but for what?

“Okay, can I ride with you? Is it okay if I leave my car here?”

He didn’t respond; he just walked out the front door, waited for me to step out after him then turned and locked the door. I’m going to take that as a yes. He chirped his car alarm, so I went around to the passenger side. He need not take his frustrations out on me because I didn’t do shit to him.

“What’s wrong? Did you have fun today?”

“Yeah it was cool.”

We drove to his place in silence. He pulled into the parking garage and that’s when it dawned on me that I forgot to get my phone. As we walked up to his apartment, I thought of ways to ask him if we could go back to his parents' for my phone. He’s acting so mean, I don’t wanna ask him, but I need my shit. He unlocked the door and before I could finish unstrapping my wedge sandals, he snatched off his shirt and threw it on the couch. His milk chocolate skin and muscles were an instant turn on, making me forget about the manner at hand.

“Make yourself at home, I’m finna jump in the shower.”

“Okay.”

He’s so tense and mad. I can help him relieve some of that. I never had sex in the shower before, but tonight can be the night. I’ve been thinking about getting some all day.

He set up his Bluetooth speaker to play some music off his phone. I waited until he was in there for about five minutes then crept in. I slowly pulled the curtain back. His eyes were closed as he was washing his head humming the beat to one of Drake’s new songs. I slipped in behind him and touched his back.

“GIRL!” he jumped.

“Sorry,” I laughed, “didn’t mean to scare you.
